This policy explains what ArcologyGames Media Inc. stores on your device when you read arcologygames.com, why, and how to change your mind. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal information more broadly.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep, so it can recognise your device on a later visit. Similar technologies — such as the small amount of data a site can save in your browser without a cookie — do the same job, and we treat them under the same rules here. Cookies cannot read files on your computer or carry software.
2. The three categories we use
- Essential — needed for the site to work at all: serving pages securely, protecting forms from abuse, and remembering the cookie choice you make so we do not ask again on every page. These cannot be switched off, because without them the site cannot function.
- Analytics — helps us see, in aggregate, which reviews and guides are actually read, how people arrive, and where pages are slow. This is off until you turn it on, and the data is anonymous and reported in totals, never per reader.
- Marketing — used only to measure whether a campaign that brought a reader here worked. Off unless you turn it on. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell audience data.
3. What is actually stored
| Name | Category | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consent choice | Essential | Remembers whether you accepted, rejected, or picked specific categories, so the banner does not reappear on every page. | 12 months |
| Session security | Essential | Protects form submissions against automated abuse for the length of your visit. | Until you close the browser |
| Aggregate measurement | Analytics | Counts page views and referrers in totals, so we can see which coverage readers value. Only set if you enable Analytics. | Up to 14 months |
| Campaign measurement | Marketing | Records that a visit arrived from a specific campaign, so we can tell whether it was worth running. Only set if you enable Marketing. | Up to 13 months |
4. Your choice, and changing it
The first time you visit, a banner offers three options: Accept All, Reject All, and Cookie Settings. Nothing beyond the essential category is set before you choose, and analytics and marketing storage start in a denied state. Rejecting everything does not hide any article, block any page, or reduce anything you can read here.
You can change your decision whenever you like using the Cookie Settings link in the footer of every page. Your new choice takes effect immediately.
5. Third parties
We keep third parties to a minimum. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts so that pages render consistently; no cookie is set by that request. If you enable Analytics, an aggregate measurement service processes page-view data on our behalf under contract. We do not embed social network buttons, advertising exchanges, or tracking pixels from any other party.
6. Managing cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you view, delete and block cookies from its settings, usually under “Privacy” or “Site data”. Blocking all cookies will stop this site remembering your consent choice, which means the banner will appear on each visit — everything else will still work normally.
7. Questions
If anything here is unclear, write to us at [email protected] or 10123 Jasper Avenue NW, Suite 720, Edmonton, AB T5J 3N9, Canada. We answer cookie and privacy questions in the same plain language we try to write everything else in.
