The publisher will keep roughly sixty older titles running on current hardware, with minimal fixes rather than full remasters.

Northlight Publishing has announced a preservation program covering approximately sixty titles from its back catalogue. Rather than commissioning remasters, the publisher will apply minimal compatibility fixes and re-release the originals on current platforms at a low price point.

Preservation advocates broadly welcomed the announcement while noting that the industry still lacks any shared standard for keeping games playable. Northlight said the first batch of twelve titles will arrive before the end of the year, and that no title in the program will require an always-on connection.
